When homeowners begin planning an inground pool, they often focus on its shape, size and appearance. Those details matter—but the technology behind the pool can have an even greater effect on maintenance, reliability and long-term enjoyment.
Desjoyaux pools stand apart because of their patented pipeless filtration system, durable construction and nearly unlimited design flexibility. The result is a swimming pool engineered to provide more enjoyment with fewer of the complications associated with traditional pool systems.
What Is a Pipeless Filtration System?
Traditional pools typically circulate water through long underground plumbing lines that connect the pool to pumps, filters and other equipment located elsewhere on the property.
A Desjoyaux pool works differently.
Its filtration system is built directly into the side of the pool. Water enters the filtration unit, passes through the filter media and is returned directly to the pool. Because the pump and filter are located at the pool wall, hundreds of feet of underground circulation piping are eliminated.
Desjoyaux introduced its patented monoblock pipeless filtration system in 1983, and the technology has since been used in pools around the world. Desjoyaux Pools
Fewer Underground Pipes Mean Fewer Potential Problems
Underground pool plumbing can eventually leak, shift or become damaged. Finding and repairing those problems may require excavation beneath landscaping, patios or pool decking.
With a Desjoyaux pipeless filtration system, there are no underground filtration lines to crack or leak. The primary filtration components are also conveniently located near the pool’s edge, making them easier to access for routine service.
That simplified design can mean:
- No buried filtration pipes to repair or replace
- Less disruption to surrounding patios and landscaping
- Easier access to the pump and filtration equipment
- Fewer hidden components that could cause future problems
For homeowners who want a pool that is easier to own—not simply beautiful to look at—this is one of the most valuable Desjoyaux advantages.
Efficient Water Circulation and Filtration
Because water travels only a short distance through the Desjoyaux filtration unit, the system does not need to push it through long runs of underground plumbing.
Desjoyaux offers filter bags in multiple filtration levels, including options rated at 30, 15 and 6 microns. The company states that its system can filter much finer particles than a traditional sand filter while avoiding the need for routine backwashing. Desjoyaux Pools
No backwashing also means treated pool water is not regularly discharged simply to clean the filter. Instead, the removable filter media can be cleaned and reused.
Easier Pool Maintenance
Pool ownership should be about relaxing, entertaining and spending time with family—not constantly working on equipment.
The Desjoyaux system helps simplify routine care. Its filtration media is accessible from the pool deck and can be removed for cleaning without operating a complicated backwashing system.
While every pool still requires proper water chemistry, seasonal care and regular maintenance, Desjoyaux’s streamlined equipment design makes the filtration side of pool ownership more manageable.
A Strong, Customizable Pool Structure
The advantages of a Desjoyaux pool extend beyond filtration.
Desjoyaux uses a patented active-casing wall system made with recycled polypropylene forms. The forms are assembled into the desired pool shape and filled with concrete. The walls and floor are reinforced and poured to create a strong, integrated structure. Desjoyaux Pools
This construction method allows homeowners to customize:
- Pool shape and dimensions
- Water depth
- Entry steps and benches
- Sun shelves and lounging areas
- Spas and water features
- Coping, decking and surrounding hardscaping
- Saltwater-compatible systems
Rather than choosing from only a few predetermined shells, homeowners can create a pool that fits their property and the way their family intends to use it.
Designed for Real Backyards
Not every home has a massive backyard. Desjoyaux pools can be designed for compact properties, narrow lots and unique outdoor spaces.
The customizable structure and self-contained filtration system can provide greater flexibility when working around patios, landscaping, property setbacks and other site limitations. This makes Desjoyaux an excellent option for homeowners who previously believed their yard was too small or complicated for an inground pool.
Proven Pool Innovation
Desjoyaux began building pools in France in 1966 and now operates through a worldwide dealer network. Its filtration and structural systems represent decades of continued development and real-world use. Desjoyaux Pools
For homeowners, that means choosing more than an attractive pool. It means investing in an established system designed around durability, simplicity and everyday family enjoyment.
